For so many people who work in a non-stop hectic job, a two or three day cruise to nowhere can be a perfectly affordable cruise ship escape. If you’ve never heard of a cruise to nowhere, it isn’t too surprising; until just a few years ago these totally on ship vacations didn’t exist! But with more and more of the luxury cruise liners adding amazing amenities like virtual golf, rock walls, award winning meals and top class entertainment, it became clear that travelers could have a perfectly great vacation without leaving the ship
The most common cruises to nowhere can last anywhere from two nights to a more regular cruise length of seven or even ten days. For the most part these cruises have no itinerary as there are no port calls or schedule stops. In fact, there are even a sort of day cruise to nowhere, which does not include overnight accommodations and returns to the port of sailing late in the evening. For the most part these smaller day cruises are usually used by companies as corporate retreats, or sometimes offered complimentary to perspective travelers to showcase a ship’s on-board comforts and attractions.

At the time of this writing there seemed to be an ample amount of cruises to nowhere available for very affordable prices. For example, we found a Princess cruise to nowhere that started at around sixty-dollars a night, and traveled in the U.S. Pacific Coast region. This cruise departed from the Los Angeles area, and other west coast departures are possible as well including San Francisco, Seattle and even Victoria BC.

Our friends over across the Atlantic also had some great options, including the Norwegian cruise to nowhere that departed from Seattle at a rate of around seventy-dollars a day. The vacation takes place on the Norwegian Star Cruise ship which includes all modern luxury options like swimming, good dining and comfortable state rooms. You can even try out the cabin beds! There are also other Norwegian cruises to nowhere that depart from the eastern seaboard in New York City or Boston.

Finally there are also several two-day Carnival cruise to nowhere options, with ports of departure like New York and Norfolk, Virginia. These events are affordable and present a great opportunity to experience the luxury of one of Carnival’s ships like the Carnival Dream, Miracle or Triumph. At this time we were not able to locate an Alaskan cruise to nowhere trips as those routes are more limited in staying close to shore due to Arctic Sea conditions and ice buildup.

Finding a discount cruise to nowhere package isn’t that hard when searching multiple websites and cruise companies online. These shorter trips will allow you to try all the experiences of a longer vacation at a much lower cost. And if you are nervous about taking a cruise vacation, these are good “tests” to determine your true reaction to time away at sea.
